In partnership, Keep Newberry County Beautiful hosts the Dreher Island Site, come by land or by boat. You can participate in the biggest cleanup of Lake Murray and be rewarded for your efforts. We provide cleanup supplies and a cookout lunch afterward. 8:30am we distribute supplies. Dreher provides dumpsters for the collected litter. Prizes awarded through Keep the Midland Beautiful.

In 2025 The cleanup volunteers collected 38 bags or 570 lbs of trash, plus 1 tire, a boat bumper, fishing rods, and old rear view window to a 50's Chevy. Volunteers received a t shirt for participation, some snacks and an opportunity to win some great prizes. If you would like to participate either by land or by boat, join us next year. Who knew trash could be so much fun?

Dreher Island State Park is in central South Carolina in Newberry County SC. It occupies all of the largest island in 50,000-acre Lake Murray, a reservoir of the Saluda River.
